HOW DO WE RAISE MONEY?

As we are a small rescue any donations are very gratefully received and very much needed!

In order to keep the rescue running, we have to raise money.  We raise some of our funds in the following ways:

•We request a minimum donation per hen that we rehome to cover the basic costs

•We visit car boot sales, fairs and any other events where we can book a stall to sell our merchandise

•Some of our volunteers make various craft items to sell at craft fairs and online

•In the past, volunteers have run marathons and even walked the West Highland Way to raise money for us

•We have run Psychic Evenings and other events to raise money and awareness

•Our volunteers sell eggs from our rescued girls

•Auctions of paintings donated by one of our talented volunteers

•Giving talks at schools and nurseries or to any other groups and bringing along hens and cockerels

Where do the donations go?

Running a rescue and rehoming charity can be very expensive.  We fundraise to pay for the following:

•Paying the farmers for the hens that we rescue

•Fuel costs to get us to the farm and back, and to various rehoming points

•Vehicle maintenance

•Special poultry crates to transport the hens in

•Feeding the hens and any supplements they require

•Veterinary costs

•Maintenance of the coops and runs they live in whilst waiting to be rehomed

•Advertising, such as posters, flyers, business cards, merchandise and our website

•Equipment that is required for a rehoming day

•Feed and equipment to raise young chicks that are brought to us from hatching projects
